It’s International Women’s Day baby!
I can not tell you how much this is a date I passionately celebrate. I am the biggest lover of women & I appreciate and value us so so much.
I read a quote recently that said ‘Be your own daddy. Make your own sugar’ and quotes like this make me smile so much.
Now I know not every one wants to go in that direction. Some women are happy to be a house wife and a mum. And that’s amazing too! Feminism isn’t about us taking over the work place. It’s about every woman having the right to do what they want to do. If you want to be a stay at home mum. Do it. If you want to be a boss bitch. Do it.
One thing I ask of you is what ever you choose to do. Make sure that it’s what you really want to do. Make sure it fills your heart and your mind & makes you happy.
I know so many people who go out to work and try to get on the female empowering work train but want to be at home. And equally know so many who stay at home but aren’t happy as they have lost there purpose.
If I can tell you one thing in life. Only you can save yourself. Only you have control of your happiness. Only you have the power to make a change. Even If you have the most amazing supportive partner I want you to still make yourself the main character of your story.
Unfortunately, for many years. Not all but a lot of men have put women down. In many cultures & places in the world women are second class citizens. It blows my mind. I mean men wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for us. Yes men are cool, since the cavemen days they’ve foraged and built and looked after us. But could they have done that with out the support & drive of women? Could they do that high powered high income job without their partner providing a happy home, looking after the kids and supporting them mentally? Could a man bleed, produce milk, work, be a mother and still have their sanity? Probably not.
Remember your worth as a woman. We are what makes the world go round.
In 2020 I was not feeling very women power. And I remember actually thinking how can I do life alone with a baby. I felt powerless. Now I look back and can’t imagine feeling like that. The strength of women amazes me. Being a mum is something that gave me the push to get my shit together, now I would have found that without my baby, but I had the motivation sped up because of him. And guess what. I think it was the greatest sign ever. But I signed the keys for my salon on international women’s day 2021. If that’s not a sign of strength I don’t know what is. That is the reason international women’s day holds an even more special place in my heart.
I think it’s so important that all women have a little self celebration on International Women’s Day. Not matter the situation you are in. I promise you deserve it. So this International Women’s Day. I want you to stand alone in the bathroom. No judging your self. Not one negative comment. I want you to look in the mirror and say one thing you like about yourself. I want you to smile and high five yourself. I promise you will feel a little buzz of happiness. You go QUEEN. Your deserve it.
With love,
Naomi xx
