Finding your style in a world full of aesthetics

Finding your style in a world full of aesthetics

Growing up I felt like there were certain fashion trends but they wasn’t like a cult aesthetic like we have today. Yes we had peplum tops and office attire for every occasion. I definitely had peddle pushers and joined the Joni jeans trend. BUT it didn’t feel intense. Now I feel like if I’m not wearing an Adanola jumper, leggings, socks and new balance, I’m not cool. Clean girl aesthetic took over and now I’m so used to comfy fashion I've forgotten my own dress sense and look like I’m going to the gym everyday! I’ve gotten so reliant on following the trends that I’ve forgotten how to dress for myself. After I had Sullivan, I went to the smallest I’ve ever been, and now I’m at my biggest. So the changes in my body have affected what I wear as well. My hips are wider, my boobs are lower and I’m also a mum. Not that shouldn't stop us dressing a certain way, I just mean that now my outfits need to suit me chasing a crazy 4 year old around.

I wish we could go back to just dressing for how we like, maybe then there would be more variety in shops. Or maybe it’s in my head and I need to widen my horizon past Zara. Do you feel the same? Or is it just me?

Anyway I’m going to start buying things other than grey joggers and leggings. I can’t wait to get back into jeans, and maybe wear them everyday and get lost in a denim aesthetic. Isn’t being a girl hard?! I’m joking. But the main point is I need to find what suits me and start shopping for me rather than what I’ve seen on Instagram.

With love,

Naomi xx
