Being Happy

Being Happy

I bet just being happy is making you think I wish it was that easy, let me explain... We need to start with the book that changed my whole mindset, ‘Solve for happy’ by the incredible Mo Gawdat. What I love the most about this book is he actually breaks down and explains how we feel, he talks about how when we were babies and our most simple needs are met that we are in a complete happy state, it’s only as we grow and start to realise feelings, and wants and dilemmas that we lose that pure happiness, the feeling of making people happy, of wanting something, of losing something that brings unhappiness. He wrote a chapter that was a practice where he tells the reader to stand in front of the mirror and remove everything that you were wearing that was to impress anyone and wasn’t actually needed. Remove everything from the pants making you look slim, the top making you look nice, the shoes that were likely bought to impress, the tattoos that make you look cool, the jewellery you don’t need, and what you are left with is you. The you that underneath any enhancements need to be happy in your pure state, finding happiness within ourselves without any additional items is what brings true happiness. It’s all the bits we use to impress or imply a certain image that distorts our true self. If you ever feel rubbish or unhappy, break it down, break it down to the pure happiness in your self. Being content and happy gives you a different perspective on life, it makes you realise so many things don’t matter. So many things don’t deserve our wasted energy on the unhappy. He wrote the book to find the equation of happiness, and I can’t recommend it enough if you are on a journey to a happy life.

There’s a chart to base what levels of stress humans can handle, now all of these things are very stressful and we are allowed to feel pain from them, but when I look at this I try and find a positive to them all. Try to imagine you at your naked state in the mirror and imagine yourself in your true authentic state. Do any of these things affect the person in the mirror? It might make you sad yes, we wouldn’t be human if they didn’t affect us, but are you still lucky enough to alive? Unharmed? A roof over your head? Healthy? These are the things that we are so lucky to have and hopefully have strength to move forward from. We have no control over the future., we cannot change the past, we can’t hold feelings in the past or the future, we can only feel the right now. And right now, are you safe? Are you happy? Let’s start living in the right now.

With love,

Naomi xx
